Fèis Bharraigh 2010

Fèis Bharraigh begun in 1981 to with the mission to promote, encourage, foster and develop the practice and study of the Gaelic language, literature, music, drama and culture in the Islands of Barra and Vatersay.

 

Fèis Bharraigh is comprised of a week of local events, games, concerts and dances. What makes it unique is its emphasis on the area's language, culture and identity, and the opportunity it gave to young people to give expression to these.

 

Since its inception in 1981 it has gone on to become a movement, now with 42 other feisean taking place every year throughout Scotland.
